Facts About The Red Admiral Butterfly

  • Found throughout North America, temperate Europe and Asia
  • Well known colorful butterfly, the wings are brown with orange stripes and white spots
  • In North America they usually have two broods from March to October
  • They usually winter in South Texas from October through March
  • Wingspan is 1.74 – 3 inches (4.5 – 7.6 cm)
  • Red Admirals are known to hibernate in colder climes
